Stepping Out
After our Saturday classroom sessions, fun activities and community service opportunities are provided known as “Stepping Out” activities. The goals of these “Stepping Out” activities, which last between one and two hours, are to provide our students with a variety of experiences beyond the classroom. Past events have included bowling, laser tag, field day, working with children at Family Gateway Apartments, making Easter baskets for the Genesis Women’s Shelter, and volunteering at the St. Vincent De Paul donation center. Through these activities our students and mentors are able to give back to the community in meaningful ways and learn to incorporate volunteer projects into their own lives.
